PROGRAMME 6
Cornish
Clay lines
There once were many, but now just a few clay branch lines
through Cornwall that play a significant part in bringing
china clay from the mines, to industries in the UK. Very picturesque
scenery, with an early morning train unloading at Fowey docks.
Northam
Depot
This high tech, purpose built depot has been specifically
designed to cater for modern locos, with faster “pit stop”
style maintenance, the sort of investment that should be applauded.
Rail
Crane
We visit Coventry station the site of some major track relaying
work and see how the Kirow 100 tonne rail crane is put to
good use.
Cavan
& Leitrim Railway, Ireland
We visit one of the few heritage railways in Ireland where
one man’s vision and hard work is helping to preserve a steam
based narrow gauge line.
