Having filmed the Cambrian Coast Line in the morning, we
left the train at Porthmadog and spent the afternoon on the
Ffestiniog Railway.
Unfortunately for me I didn’t travel up to Blaenau Ffestiniog,
as I had to drive the van while the crew filmed. However I
did get to travel 1st class back down to Porthmadog and was
amazed by the beautiful scenery I encountered.
The director also nearly lost a camera as he was leaning
out of the carriage trying to get the best shot. The train
went through a cutting which was a shear rock face inches
from the carriage and he had to lean in pretty sharpish. The
things these people will do to get want they want!
Tim Davies, the Corporate & Public Affairs Manager, is a
man who is passionate about his job and his vision for the
future of the Ffestiniog Railway and the Welsh Highland Line
is good to hear. At the time of writing this they are looking
to link the two lines to form nearly 50 miles of narrow gauge
railway stretching from Canaervon to Blaenau Ffestiniog once
the section from Waunfawr to Porthmadog is complete.
