Our 4 days in Wales were thoroughly enjoyable. Everything
ran so smoothly and according to plan.
It was a gorgeous day as we arrived at Llanberis for the
Snowdon Mountain Railway. We filmed the shed to begin with
talking to Sam Reeves the Chief Engineer and then took the
first steam train to the summit.
Some of the shots taken with the mini camera look spectacular
as the cameraman leant out of the window with his large pole
giving the impression he was standing on the roof of the carriage.
We left the train on the way down at Clogwyn and filmed
there for the next few hours as trains went by.
I remember sitting on the edge of Snowdon looking across
to the mountain on the other side of the valley and being
amazed at the scale of everything; I can only describe the
scenery as “too big to see”. It was an awesome sight with
the excellent weather playing such an important part.
The General Manager Alan Kendall and his team were more than
helpful and I wish him the best of luck with projects such
as archiving the blueprints of the original designs of some
of the Swiss-built locos
